Words, words, words..
What a wonderful weapon,
Says the little devil
Floating beside our shoulders.

What are these bones?
They're not quite brittle
Won't they ever hurt enough

But hearts, warm hearts
Now those, those are
Easy to break, and twist,
And tear so that
Ripe blood drips everywhere.

It is with words that we are broken,
And with anger that we shatter.

No amount of broken bones
Could ever hurt like
A broken heart

Words, sharp and swift cut deep
Poison arrows that never kill
No relief, not a moment's peace
Do his biting words leave me

Wow. this one is just beautiful in it's sadness...and so very true. the little things we toss about with our tongues are so easy to say, yet remain extremely dangerous. Hard to mend, impossible to retract...

Ooh, great ideas on a powerful subject.

I think the ending could be a little stronger, though... I don't know exactly how, but it just seems like since you've mentioned broken hearts earlier in the poem, it's not as fresh of a thing to say in closing.

You're right. I realized saying "broken hearts" in the earlier portion didn't make much sense, I changed it to "warm hearts" :)

Ohh, I didn't even notice the mistake in the earlier part. But reading it over, "warm hearts" does sound better and make a lot more sense. :)

Sticks and stones
They may break my bones
But words will never do the same

See, they can't break through bone
How can something invisible slice
And cut through solid mass?

No, instead, the words have learned
Leave the bones alone, no chance
Let's aim for the heart instead

It's not so tough, not at all
It doesn't even have a hard shell
Get past those ribs, we're in

It's never been so easy to break something
Even with things like words
The weapon without mass or weight or shape
